Reflecting on 2018 ~ The Highlights ~

Sunday, 30 December 2018

Hello everyone! I'm not going to lie, it feels really strange but also really lovely to be back writing on my blog. It's a place where I've spent a number of years posting about personal journeys, beauty products and whatever the hell I feel like talking about. I don't know whether it's because the New Year is approaching that I have the urge to suddenly jump on here and resume where I left off but we'll give it a go and see where it takes us.

I thought that to catch you up on what I've been doing it would be nice to do a little reflection on 2018 and pick out some highlights. Overall, it's been a really great year for me and I'm definitely excited to see what 2019 holds... Let's start in February (it seems that nothing substantial happened in January)

For my (then, newly) boyfriend Robert's birthday we took a trip down to London for the day. I booked us tickets to go to the London Dungeons, which, I was surprisingly impressed with, I was the tiniest bit worried I would be petrified, but aside from a random guy making me jump out of my skin at the beginning, it wasn't quite as bad as I had first imagined. We then hopped on the London Eye, something which neither of us had done before. It was a cool experience but I think the weather let us down a tiny bit (as you can see from my frizzy hair in the photos) so we couldn't see quite as much as we'd hoped from up there. All in all though, it was a lovely day.

Moving onto March, and, another trip to London! This time for my birthday, Robert booked tickets for us to go and see Wicked at the West End. I can't tell you how long I have wanted to see this show and it certainly didn't disappoint! The vocals were incredible and I may have cried a couple of times... Now we'll jump to the Summer because several months before this were stressy, dissertation days that nobody needs to relive!

To celebrate the end of writing my dissertation, Robert and I took a short break to our local Centre Parcs for a few days. I can't tell you how lovely and relaxing this was, the weather was really good (a bit too good at times - so hot!), having our own space together was great. I already really want to go back! It just goes to show that you don't have to go far to have a wonderful time.

This next one is still very surreal, even though it was all the way back in July. As you can guess from the photos, I graduated from university! It was a super lovely day where I felt proud of everything I had achieved and getting to celebrate that with my favourite people was the best. This isn't only a highlight of 2018 but of my life, I never thought I would be where I am today!

Just one month after graduation, I actually got offered a Digital Marketing internship at the University I studied at. This was initially for a three month period, but it then got extended to six months and, at the moment, I'm going to be there until at least the beginning of February.

Now onto September, another exciting one. It was one of my best friends Rachel's hen do weekend in Norwich and boy was it good! It was so great to have a girly weekend doing things we wouldn't normally do. We did a haunted escape room and a life drawing class, which, as you can imagine, were both very interesting and also hilarious. We stayed in such a beautiful house for the weekend which gave me major house envy... definite instagram goals!

Next, rather fittingly, is the wedding! I can't tell you how amazing it was to watch one of my best friends get married, so so magical and special. It was an incredible day full of lots of emotion (mainly happiness!) I was actually one of the amateur photographers on the day, alongside my other friend, and capturing those special, once in a lifetime moments made everything even more special. It also helped that they were such a beautiful couple! Although I was photographing most of the day, as you can see, I did get in on some shots...

And that takes us up to Christmas. If you know me well, you know that I love Christmas. I mean, who doesn't, right? I feel as if that magical feeling you got as a child at this time of year is starting to creep back a tiny bit since my nephew is nearly two years old now. I can't wait until he gets properly excited for Father Christmas to bring his presents!

So in a nutshell, those are my top highlights of 2018. I feel incredibly grateful to have had such a great year, let's just hope that 2019 follows suit. I would really like to try and keep creating content on here but I won't make any promises just yet, working 9-5 has taken some getting used to and sometimes it feels like there's just not enough time, so let's see how it goes...

Happy New Year!
